This week I got to shoot my very first maternity session. Lucie was 36 weeks and as cool as a cucumber! I met with her at home before the day of the shoot to discuss the kind of images she would like to get from the session. As this was a home maternity session, I suggested spots around the home that would work well and we explored the areas Lucie was happy for me to photograph. I took some casual shots whilst I was there to familiarise Lucie with the the kind of poses we would be creating.
Can you believe, she had never had any professional photographs taken of herself. Not even at her wedding! When I hear this it makes me so sad, capturing those precious moments is so important to me. That is why I do what I do.
At 36 weeks Lucie was glowing and gorgeous, her shape so glorious and triumphant. She exuded femininity and womanhood, it was a true pleasure to take her portrait and spend time in her company. This late stage of her pregnancy will be gone in the blink of an eye and I’m so happy we made these memories for her and her family to treasure forever. I would love to have photographs of my mom while she was pregnant, I just cannot envisage it!
Lucie enjoys yoga so I was sure to grab some meditative shots and we played around with fabric wraps and flowers. Lucie has the most perfectly round bump which looked stunning in tulle!
We experimented with some silhouettes which really accentuated her bump! I’m constantly pushing myself to learn poses and new techniques and was excited to put many of them into practice at this session.
